Fall General Meeting

The Upper Mt. Hope Neighborhood Association hosted a Fall General Meeting that attracted dozens of people throughout the neighborhood. Our guest speakers were Marcia Barry from the city zoning bureau and Paul Way from the city engineering department. There was also a vote from those present on electing Dan Hurley as our new President. The outcome of that vote resulted in his election as the fourth President of the Upper Mt Hope Neighborhood Association.

Marcia Barry gave a presentation on the new zoning requirements that were adopted after input and feedback by the residents and businesses of the area along with help from engineers and site planners. The new zoning will allow the city planners to create a “College town” along Mt Hope Avenue in the future. The zoning will also address concerns

regarding what types of buildings can be placed along Mt. Hope Avenue as well as a more restricted use of drive thru windows.

Paul Way presented a nice sketch that detailed what residents and visitors can expect Mt. Hope avenue to look like after the first phase of the reconstruction process where the street will be widened to accommodate a median and also converted to one way traffic, which will eliminate left hand turns which are known for causing accidents.
