New on the Avenue

A Healing Sanctuary

A new business has opened on Mt. Hope Avenue called A Healing Sanctuary. The owner, Joan P. Powell is a lifelong resident of the neighborhood, growing up on Cimarron Dr. and then raising her daughters, along with husband Geoff, on Elmerston Road.

Joan previously worked in the neighborhood at the Epilepsy Foundation, a member agency of the Al Sigl Center agencies, for 20 years.

Joan P. Powell
“Walk through our door to the peaceful
ringing of wind chimes and settle in
for a uniquely relaxing experience.”

Although she helped found another wellness center on East Ave. four years ago, she was eager to move back to Mt. Hope Ave. and open a smaller office. Luck would have it that the perfect place offered itself when Dick Rowe purchased the house at 1722 Mt. Hope and it became available this past fall.

A Healing Sanctuary offers Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue/Connective Tissue Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Acupuncture, Foot Reflexology, Reiki Energy Work, and Spiritual Readings. Joining Joan, who is a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and Reiki Master, are Kevin Brunelle, LMT; Jillian Kelly, LMT; Kathleen Lynch, LaC.; and Robyn DeVoist, Medium and Reiki Master Teacher.
