President's Letter

To our neighbors and community;

Hello and welcome to change. We are transitioning into new leadership within the Upper Mt. Hope Neighborhood Association. Our current President, Denise Lippa, along with Lorna Mittelman our Vice President, will be leaving our neighborhood to begin new endeavors. I, Dan Hurley, will serve as Interim President. I have spent 10 years in the neighborhood residing on Southview Terrace, along with my wife and two boys. During nine of those years, I was a member of the neighborhood association, getting involved with a number of tasks including, handing out newsletters.

Dan Hurley

It was during those years that I felt a great sense of involvement and community. Seeing changes take place before my eyes. I’ve also had the ability to meet some wonderful people, many within our community. This is also a time of change for our main avenue, Mt. Hope. There are a number of neighbors, business owners and community leaders getting involved in the Mt Hope Avenue redevelopment process. Each newsletter will update everyone on the development process of the Mt. Hope reconstruction project. In addition, there will be notices posted on our website, www.UMHN.com, with posted meetings and events that cover the redevelopment process.

I have not mentioned a name for Vice President, as we have not yet made a selection. The position is open to anyone interested. We are interested in someone with experience working with people and good at developing ideas. If you’re interested, please let us know by e-mail umhn@umhn.com or at one of the many meetings and functions listed on our website.

Thanks so much!

Dan

A Farewell Message
from Denise

Hello Neighbors

As my family and I prepare to move to a new neighborhood, the position of President is shifting to Dan Hurley.

Again, I need to thank Terry and Tony Correa for getting the Upper Mt. Hope Neighborhood Association started. We have quickly become an organization which the City of Rochester and the University of Rochester, as well as other city neighborhoods, look to for excellent ideas.

Denise
Dan Hurley is a champion of innovative ideas and energy to accompany these ideas, to propel action. I hope many of you jump in, and have the privilege to work with Dan and all the other wonderful volunteers, creating a safe, thriving place to live.

Denise
