I live at 25 Rossiter Road and I wanted to let you know of a truly remarkable neighbor in our community by the name of Marion MacKillop. Marion lives at 74 Norfolk and recently celebrated her 90th birthday on September 9. Several times she has delivered the UMHN Newsletter to the residents of Rossiter Road.
Marion quietly goes about her day keeping her home spotless and beautiful, inside and out, with no thought of asking for assistance, even when she may need it. She always has a kind word for her neighbors, especially if they have young children or pets with them. She always looks forward to the birth of new babies in the neighborhood and welcomes any new dogs that have moved among us. Her outlook on life and sense of self is what gives me a boost when I am bemoaning my fate regarding some situation or another, and she keeps me on my toes constantly!
Several of us make sure she gets to the grocery store, doctor, and also the vet when her beloved dog, Pixie, needs attention. Her husband, Andy, has passed on and Marion doesn't drive. Many of us see her every day walking Pixie with a bounce in her step that puts her younger cohorts to shame! She is a precious jewel in the neighborhood and if you see her during your busy day, make sure you say ‘hi’ and tell her what a beautiful dog she has! If we could all age as gracefully as Marion, along with the dignity shown by this lovely lady, the world would be a much kinder and gentler place to live in.

Editor’s Note: we kindly thank Marion for continuing to deliver the UMHN newsletter to her neighbors on Rossiter Road. Her care and concern for our neighborhood and its residents should be a model for all of us to follow.
