Mark's Park
In the Fall 2007 Clean Sweep
The City of Rochester's Dept. of Forestry joined others in the Fall Clean Sweep project at our very own "pocket park" known as Mark's Park. Trees were pruned for safety, dead limbs and brush was cleared and turned into mulch. Thanks to Pete Saxe from the NET office for getting the City to help us with this project. The park overlooks the Erie Canal, at the bend in Westmoreland Road, just before (or after) the 4-way stop.
In the spring, we plan to apply to the Canal Corp. for a grant to rebuild the foot bridge, and replace the bench in the park. NEEDED: caretaker(s) to help keep the grass mowed along the curb during the spring and summer months. This would help a great deal to the upkeep of this area. Contact Denise, President@umhn.com, if you're interested.
The exceptional story of how Mark's Park came to be is posted on our website; or if you would like a copy of the written article, click here to download a printable copy.

Mark's Park Spring 2007:
A Place Where Families Can Gather
Mark's Park was in serious need of help. During the City wide Clean Sweep held earlier this year and again on Saturday (21 October), neighbors came together to clean things up. Here are a few images of what was done, and what we now have. This is an on-going project. Volunteers are needed to continue our effort. Please contact your block representative if your able to help out.
