Mark’s Park is Blooming
Have you noticed that “Mark’s Park” is in bloom? A very successful “Clean Sweep” program had volunteers raking and clearing all of the debris in the area. Several new gardens have been started, including a shade garden at the far end of the park.
Unfortunately, we lost our beautiful apple tree. Even though it was in full bloom, it was falling down and the trunk was hollow. Apple wood makes great firewood, and it’s there for the taking, so help yourself.
We are in the process of trying to get a water spigot installed in the park. As this is not city property, this procedure is a challenge. |

Our lead gardeners, Irma and Cindy, express special thanks to the volunteers who have worked so hard this spring in the park: Maggie McGrath, Mary Ellyn and Dustin Scanandoah, Mary and Brian Tyndall, Nancy Rice, Dan Hurley, Bob Good, Rosemary Paprocki and Dana Mabie. Also thanks to Joan Lindberg and the Lilac Neighborhood for their donation of plants. |
