FIRST MEETING

The City Planning Commission will be conducting a public meeting/hearing on Monday, February 8, 2010, City Hall, City Council Chamber, Room 302A, beginning at 6:30 PM. The University of Rochester is Case #2 on the agenda and will be giving a full presentation of the U of R Master Plan.

The request is to rezone the current Institutional Planned Development District (IPD#5) to a Planned Development District (PD#10). The request for the rezoning is based on the U of R Master Plan. The Planning Commission will be conducting a Public Information Meeting to gather public comments and to make a recommendation to City Council for final action.

Project Limits: Mt. Hope Avenue (Elmwood Ave to Rossiter Road)

Purpose:

• Present design plans for the reconstruction of Mt. Hope Avenue between Rossiter Road and Elmwood Avenue;

• Phase I includes the following work:

o The section of Mt. Hope Avenue from Rossiter Road to Elmwood Avenue will be widened to provide a raised median to improve safety and reduce accidents along this section of the corridor;

o The section of Mt. Hope Avenue from Crittenden Boulevard to Elmwood Avenue will have on-street parking to complement the Collegetown redevelopment land uses being proposed in the corridor;

o The project also includes a new traffic signal mid-way between Crittenden Boulevard and Elmwood Avenue on Mt. Hope Avenue;

o A 650 foot long eastbound right turn lane will be added to Elmwood Avenue at the Elmwood Avenue and Mt. Hope Avenue intersection;

o The Phase I work is proposed for 2010 construction season.
