Spring General Meeting
Scheduled for May 5

Over the past several years, the Upper Mount Hope Neighbors has worked hard to develop a good relationship between the neighborhood and the University of Rochester, and, in particular, the Medical Center. This of course, is our biggest “neighbor.” During these same years we have watched as the University has replaced Kodak as our region’s biggest employer and the linchpin of economic development for the greater Monroe County area.

We have frequently had speakers from the University at our meetings to discuss new buildings, new plans or new policies. Mary Ockenden, the director of space planning, and Richard Pifer, the director of Facilities, have each come on multiple occasions to meet with the neighborhood. Several other representatives have also appeared. Issues such as parking, smoking, and development along Mt. Hope Ave. have all been addressed.

Once again, the University and the Medical Center are on the cusp of several new and exciting projects, These are projects and plans that will be a real turning point for the years ahead for our neighborhood, our city, and our region.

UMHN has arranged for a special Spring meeting on May 5th. Several members of the senior leadership of the Medical Center and University will be there to discuss with the neighborhood many of the exciting new chapters ahead. Among these leaders will be:

  • Dr. Brad Berk, Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and Chief Executive Officer
  • Dr. David Guzick, Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, Medical Center
  • Mr. Ronald J. Paprocki, Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer
  • Mr. Peter Robinson, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

The University is very excited about the prospects which lie ahead for the institution. They are also very aware of how important it is that they maintain a good relationship with the neighborhood, and keep the lines of communication open between us.

So, we encourage all of our neighbors to come to this special Spring Meeting of UMHN. It will be held on May 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the social hall of St. Anne Church. So, mark your calendars, bring a neighbor, bring a friend, bring your questions and your concerns. Refreshments will be served.

See you there!
